Product introduction
At a port, a hose is rarely replaced because the whole rubber lining has worn evenly. Failure usually starts in one place: the outside of a bend, the area behind a flange, or a short section hit by concentrated material flow. Once that point wears through, the transfer line stops even though most of the hose may still look serviceable.
A rigid ceramic-lined pipe can handle severe abrasion, but it cannot always accommodate vibration, alignment offset, or limited equipment movement. An ordinary rubber hose provides that flexibility, yet leaves rubber directly exposed to sand. Elacera ceramic-lined rubber hose is made for the positions where both problems occur at the same time.
The hose uses separate high-alumina ceramic segments rather than one continuous ceramic tube. The segments form the internal wear surface and remain supported by rubber, so the assembly can flex within its approved bend radius. It is normally used as a targeted flexible connection, not as a replacement for every steel pipe in the system.
Where This Hose Earns Its Place

Why ceramic hose is considered |
What the buyer should check |
|
Pump or equipment discharge |
Abrasion and vibration occur at the same connection |
Pressure peaks, hose support and flange alignment |
|
Short offset between fixed pipes |
A rigid spool is difficult to align |
Available length and minimum bend radius |
|
Sand or aggregate transfer bend |
Flow concentrates on the outer radius |
Particle size, velocity and bend layout |

Frequently removed connection |
Maintenance needs a detachable flexible section |
Flange drilling, unit weight and lifting space |
The strongest application is a known high-wear flexible point. If the existing hose repeatedly fails in the same area, photographs of the worn bore and the installed routing are often more useful than a general material description.
Why DN Alone Is Not Enough for a Quotation
Two hoses with the same inside diameter can require very different constructions. A positive-pressure discharge hose carrying wet sand is not the same product as a vacuum hose used for suction. A short supported connector is also different from a long hose that must carry its own weight between two points.
For port service, the first quotation should identify whether the material is dry or mixed with water, the largest expected particle size, normal and maximum pressure, temperature, installed curve, flange standard, and outdoor exposure. If suction, floating service, dragging, or external armoring is required, it must be stated at the beginning; these features are not part of a standard ceramic-lined discharge hose.

Typical Product Data
|
Item |
Typical value or option |
| Ceramic lining | 95% alumina ceramic segments |
| Typical ceramic density | Approximately 3.75 g/cm³ |
| Rockwell hardness | ≥85 HRA |
| Compressive strength | ≥850 MPa |
| Working pressure | 1.0–2.5 MPa, according to hose ID and reinforcement |
| Operating temperature | Up to 100°C, subject to the selected rubber compound |
| Length | Customized; commonly 10–20 m where size and handling permit |
| End connections | Custom flanges or project-specific fittings |
| Bend radius | Defined on the approved drawing for each hose size |
Pressure, outside diameter, unit weight, and minimum bend radius are finalized for the actual size. They should appear on the approved drawing instead of being copied from a different hose diameter.
What Happens Inside the Hose
Sand sliding along a rubber bore gradually removes material. At a bend, particles continue in their original direction and strike the outer radius more heavily. A reducer, an upstream elbow, or a misaligned connection can make the flow even less uniform. The ceramic layer provides the material with a hard wear surface, while the surrounding rubber supports the segments and absorbs normal movement.
Ceramic does not correct a poor installation. A hose forced below its minimum bend radius may flatten locally, disturb the flow, and overload the structure. Pulling misaligned flanges together with the hose can create the same problem before conveying even begins.
Six Details to Approve Before Production
· Clear inside diameter through the ceramic-lined section
· Overall length and the actual installed curve
· Normal pressure, maximum pressure and any test-pressure requirement
· Flange outside diameter, bolt-hole pattern, sealing face and orientation
· Rubber requirement for outdoor, oil or chemical exposure
· Support method so the hose weight is not carried by the flanges
For a replacement job, send the old hose data sheet together with installation photographs. If the previous hose wore only on one side, also photograph the upstream fitting; the real cause may be the flow path rather than the rubber grade alone.
Inspection, Packing and Supply
Hunan Yibeinuo New Material Co., Ltd. manufactures Elacera ceramic-lined wear products to customer drawings. Before shipment, hose length, connection dimensions, flange drilling and visible lining condition are checked against the approved document. Pressure testing can be included in the inspection plan when specified in the order.
Long or heavy hoses are supported during packing to prevent them from being folded into an unsuitable radius. Wooden cases or transport frames are selected according to hose size, weight and shipping method.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can this hose be used for sand suction?
Only when it is specifically designed and rated for vacuum duty. A positive-pressure discharge hose should not be treated as a suction hose.
Can it replace a ceramic-lined steel pipe?
It can replace selected flexible or offset sections. Fixed straight sections are often better served by rigid ceramic-lined pipe.
How is the minimum bend radius decided?
It depends on the hose diameter, ceramic segment layout, reinforcement, and length. The permitted radius is stated on the approved drawing.
Can you match an existing flange?
Yes. Send a complete flange drawing or the standard, pressure class, outside diameter, bolt-hole details, and sealing-face requirement.
What is the fastest way to receive an accurate quotation?
Send the material, particle size, pressure, temperature, hose ID, length, installed curve, flange drawing, and photographs of the current connection.
Still Replacing the Same Hose?
Have a hose that keeps wearing through at the same port transfer point? Send Elacera the failed-hose photos and the connection drawing. We will review whether the location needs a ceramic-lined flexible hose, a rigid wear spool, or a different structure.
